You can build that kind of life for yourself
Once you have your vision precisely defined, you're 1/3 the way there. That’s how I ended my last post, and I’m getting feedback.
It wasn’t intended as a bold or mathematical statement. I’m referring to the first step in my three part framework for directing your life:
Live Authentically.
Trust Yourself.
Create your Dreams.
Living authentically involves getting that clarity on what you want. Facing the reality of competing values. Deciding priorities. Accepting the human condition. (https://www.katesharpconsulting.com/blog/i-help-people-get-what-they-really-want)
I’m not saying it’s simple. It can take some time to really define this.
When it comes to the big questions — What do I want my career to look like? What do I want out of life? — these are visions you build and add to with each job, each new life chapter . . . every time you get that nudge telling you something needs to change.
Figuring out what you don’t want gets you closer to knowing what you do.
And the reason this is so powerful?
Keeping that crystal clear vision top of mind will prime your brain to look for what you want.
Opportunities come our way all the time. But we only notice what we’re already focused on.
You don’t have to make a drastic change if things are mostly working.
Define your ideal, write it down, make a practice of coming back to it regularly.
Then dive back into in the priorities in your current life—and start seeing all the opportunities that get you a little closer to that what you really want.
There are still two more parts in the framework: You have to address your fears and doubts, and yes, the trusty, methodical work of creating milestones and sustainable routines applies.
But don’t underestimate the driving power of a precisely defined vision.
